Naomi Butters – My Inspirational Female Icon is…

As part of International Women’s Day which is fast approaching, we have been asking the women in our office who their inspirational female icon is.

Next up is Naomi Butters, our Fund Development Manager who has picked a professional and a personal inspirational female icon.

Naomi blog

My professional inspirational female icon is Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Facebook. She wrote a book called Lean In. In Lean In, Sheryl shares her personal stories, uses research to shine a light on gender differences, and offers practical advice to help women achieve their goals. The book challenges us to change the conversation from what women can’t do to what we can do, and encourages us to work together to create a more equal world.

My personal inspirational female icon is Kym Mason, my mum. She brought up 3 children on her own, held down 3 jobs so we could have a summer holiday every year and has given me so many happy childhood memories. These days she’s my gardener, decorator, cook, stylist and most of all my best friend. She inspires me every day and I’ll never forget the sacrifices she made to give me a better life.

We are hosting a special event on Tuesday 8th March for International Women’s Day celebrating inspirational women across Northamptonshire. Our guest speakers include:

Natalie Deacon: Executive Director Brand and Corporate Communications EMEA of Avon Cosmetics

Pauline Black: British singer, actress and author.

Suzy Van Rooyen: CEO of The Good Loaf.

Sarah Franklin: British Racing Driver and Lawyer.
