Friends of Abington Park tell us their story of how our funding has made a difference to their community.
Friends of Abington Park have been fortunate to receive more than one grant from Northamptonshire Community Foundation over the years, I will report on the funding for the new Boules area that we received in late 2014 as that has perhaps had the biggest impact.
‘Friends of Abington Park was awarded funding towards the installation of Boules pistes in Abington Park. This was selected as a project by the Friends because the local teams, comprising players of all ages up to 84 years of age had lost their local facilities some years previously and were having to travel to Towcester by bus to play which had become inconvenient and expensive.
Friends had been fund-raising for more than three years and the Northamptonshire Community Foundation grant enabled the work to finally move ahead. The new Boules area continues to prove a popular facility and one that attracts families and teams of competitive players. It is appreciated by a wide section of the community and will continue to do so for many years to come. ‘
We should also like to say how much we value the support we have had from Northamptonshire Community Foundation over the years – the team is helpful and friendly and always hugely encouraging. Thank you to you all.
